The five-time Ballon d’Or winner actually hit that mark when slipping out of the AFC Champions League with Al-Nassr. They suffered penalty shootout heartache in a quarter-final clash with Al Ain, but had prevailed 4-3 across 120 minutes to force spot-kicks.

Nobody else can claim to have been so successful at the very highest level – with the 39-year-old’s return allowing him to collect league titles in England, Spain and Italy alongside five Champions League crowns and a European Championship triumph with his country.
